Restrict FPS_MAX
#1
Question
Hi all,

I already view a thread by another user in this forum about this question.

With Windows 2k8, a CS: Source Server, with FPSBooster or HiResTimer, goes to 1000fps easly, only need fps_max 0 in the server.cfg.

Has i already see, if we put in Command Line fps_max 600, but in server.cfg, fps_max 0, the cvar fps_max 0 the server goes to 1000fps.

Already try in Command Line, set the fps_max after the exec server.cfg, but no changes, server.cfg win always.

There are any change in Windows 2k8, or FPSBooster to prevent clients set the command fps_max? Or something to change in Windows 2k8 or FPSBooster to define the max to 600?.

Regards,
Tiago Reis

server.cfg wins because it's loaded AFTER the server boots up. So the startupline gets overwritten by the server.cfg values.

You can however add another .cfg file which they can't edit, put fps_max in there and add a line exec <mycfgname.cfg> to the server.cfg, that way it overrides the server.cfg again.

Hi Drocona,

Thkx for the answer. Its a possibility, but, i'm using TCAdmin as Game Control Panel, so, if i just put a .cfg into all game servers to exec, the "clients" can acess to that .cfg or just delete that line.

This, and maxplayers cvar, are bugs that Source must resolve..if we setup in Command Line maxplayers to 32 and into server.cfg type: maxplayers 34 and restart the server..server will come up with 34 slots.

Thkx again Drocona.

You know, I've been quite stupid, I completely forgot that there's a much easier way.

Which can be found in the FAQ now too:
