Don't use the Mani plugin for HL2:DM!

I've been running Mani on my HL2Big GrinM dedicated server for about a week now, and here are my complaints.

First, the HL2 mani plugin is not configured for HL2, but for CS. The HL2 plugin download is identical to the CS download, and has all the same commands and cvars. Including TK protection, buy times, and tons of other CS related commands that will either screw up your server, or not work at all.
I'm still trying to figure out how to disable TK protection for deathmatch games.

Second, it's unstable- I was getting constant crashes when the plugin was running.

Third - just about everything you can do with Mani in HL2, you can do with RCON anyway. I think the only things that Mani offers us is "slap/burning players", auto-kick/banning, and stats.

I don't think the advantages are worth the trouble of getting this thing to work properly.

Thanks for the info. I was debating about trying Mani, but after reading this I dont think I will.

On the other hand i have been running hl2dm version of mani and not had a single problem.

Aye, I'm sure there are some that may have had no problems with Mani, however, the chances or something happening to your server are pretty high. On some installs of Mani I also had little problems, but after a re-install, it all started happening again.

Just last night, I joined 2 different HL2 servers to find the Mani TK Options where enabled. People were burning left and right (there were no teams), and eventually the screen locked and I was disconnected. There was no admin present, so I assume the server crashed.

So, if it works for you, great! But if not, get rid of it, because the problems will never end.
