600 slots......

Almost close enough to max out a 100mbit connection :O (like 660 slots @ 100tick will max it out)

on the long term it would be cost effective due to the fact of 600 100-tick Slots!!, which means less servers to purchase/deal with.

btw buy long term i mean really really long term. Toungue

EDIT

and wow only 90watts of thermal power!!! per cpu

Thats alright for a Xeon but AMD and Intel are going in the wrong direction for desktop cpus! What happened to having less watts, less carbon emissions and being green? Was that just the craze yesterday? The Core i7 is 130watts compared to like the Core 2 Quads @ 95watts, Core 2 Duos @ 65watts.

this is true but if you remember correctly Advance Micro Devices (Amd) is the most energy efficient, after all 45w dual cores and 65w quad cores.

45w dual: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103255

65w quad: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103293

Edit

core i7 should be meant for the server industry not desktop, and im looking at that cpu and comparing it to a core2quad, one of the 45nm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115041 it has more cache 12mb compared to the icore with 8mb of l3 and like 2mb of l2. if you think about it the only real difference is power, hyper threading and L3 cache, thats just about it.

Price for the i7 is just stupid 2.4Ghz sure it has 6 cores but $2400 For the price it would cost me to build a server for that I could build two dual quad cores for maybe a hair more. That and it's the old socket 604 not a bad socket but yeah.
