US is behind by 4-5 years technology on internet compared to europe. Some countries are on Fibre, paying only 16 uk pounds 32 dollars. getting a consistant connection of 24Mb to 36Mb. People outside europe other than the US are looking at average speed of 60MB.
1st ) japan - 61 Mb
2nd ) Korea - 45.6 Mb
3rd ) netherlands 21.7 Mb
4th ) Sweeden 18.2 Mb

-
12th) US 1.9 Mb
2 meg in the UK, i rmemeber, was around 2003 it was like the best thing, noew the UK stand at 16 Mb to 24Mb connection, ADSL2+ and Fibre wire, will be done within the 2 year period set out by the government, forcing targets on ISP's.

Erm...does it really matter what the connection speed is? When you are in America you will have shitty pings no matter what internet speed, just because of the huge distance.
Also, America is way ahead in internet services compared to the UK, here in the UK the internet connections are dire. Where I live, the max connection speed I can recieve is 8MB. There are loads of crap spots like this in the UK, some even lower.

99 percent covered are provided with teh services of internet, to get 16 to 24 meg, you woul dhaev to be close to city centres. close as in 5 miles, also, cable provides 24 meg and thats i something you can call and pay for, no mattr your location, you can haev that installed.
2 years ago, 70 percent of the us were covered. think its 80 percent now. some of the states also vary, some have 8 meg, that are close to city centres, others go as low as 1Mb, just some helpfull facts and statistics,

Epic lag usually comes from the ping fluctuating a lot.
