I'll come home to find no one on my server, and when I remote in to it I find that the server is out of date (per srcds.exe) and needs to be updated. Because all of the clients trying to connect have already received their Steam update, no one can connect to my server. I'm using Windows, so no -autoupdate command for me. I have built a utility to automatically shut down the server, start the update, then relaunch the server once done updating, but the problem is that Steam will release the updates randomly, and usually, during the day, so my server becomes immediately outdated.
Any ideas to get around this? If not, can a lot of us get together and ask Steam if they will have scheduled updates? Like... every Sunday and Wednesday at 4 AM? Then we could all use my autoupdate software to do it at that time :-)
Thanks.
P.S.
I'm still working on making my SRCDS Utilities available to the public under the name SUB (Source Utilities by [BR5DY]). Check that thread at this link.
