Professional Linux Optimizations & Kernels.
#1
Looking to increase the performance of your game servers without having to upgrade your equipment? By default operating systems aren't optimized to run game servers with performance in mind, with the services I offer, I make the operating system work in your favor. I have been working with linux and windows in a serving/hosting platform for nearly a decade. I've worked with several well known GSP and Web Hosting Providers as well and can provide references. I have extensive work history as a systems administrator working for several well known corporations and am currently employed as the lead systems administrator at an information services business.

I put together a couple Linux based plans that are geared towards game server providers and teams or individuals who wish to operate their own game servers on a Linux based platform. There are three levels of optimization being offered including basic, full and aggressive.

[BASIC Linux Optimization]
# Recompile system kernel from source.
# All variables set for 1000 FPS (incl. param.h)
# Kernel compiled with several optimization techniques including FLAG parameters.
# Kernel bloat removed for low memory utilization and better performance.
# Customization of Make options including cflags, cxxflags and makeopts.
# Disable running services to improve memory and performance.

One time fee of $30.

Typical memory utilization savings is typically 20-25% after completion.

[FULL Linux Optimization]
# Includes BASIC Linux Optimization and.....
# Hand tuning of kernel parameters via sysctl.
# Optimization of network functions for ideal throughput.
# Drive performance optimization via HDParm.
# Drive performance optimization via FSTAB.
# File System performance tuning.
# Disable unused terminals for memory savings.
# Set performance variables for system libraries.

OS Supported: Most Linux Variants (CentOS, RHEL, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc)

One time fee of $40.

[AGGRESSIVE Linux Optimization]
# Includes BASIC & FULL Linux Optimizations and....
# High performance timer patch applied to kernel.
# Kernel system inclusion optimizations.
# Aggressive options set for kernel compilation.
# Minor adjustments to system threading model.

OS Supported: Most Linux Variants (CentOS, RHEL, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc)

One time fee of $50.

I am certified in linux+, msce, msca and server+

My schedule from time to time can be hectic so be sure to contact me to schedule a time to work on your system.

I'm thinking about buying this, it sounds really good and it's pretty cheap.
I suppose you don't optimize Windows?

Now I just have a few questions before I will decide whether to buy it or not.
How is he doing it? What access do I have to give him? Is the difference noticeable in Windows? Can you do it for Windows Server 2008? How do you want to be paid? Is the prices in british pounds or american dollars?
Perhaps, many questions, but I will probably buy this as I get my new server hardware.

Awwent I will answer some of the questions for you best I can. 1. If he told you how to do it that would defeat the purpose of what he is offering. 2. You need to give him root access to the box. 3. The noticable difference on windows compared to linux isnt as big. 4. You will need to ask him. 5. He takes paypal. 6. Amercian Dollars.

I am sure Vigor can correct me on what I have said.

Oh, then I will probably buy it in a few weeks time.
Is it okay if I give you my RealVNC password so you can control it from there?

Hi all,

I'd like to share my experience with Vigor aka Russ.

I paid him for the kernel work around ~2 months ago and the 'optimization' was done, the work was extremely sloppy - SRCDS with only 4 slots full would use 100% cpu (950FPS max with huge flucuations!), and the same for running a HLDS instance (which uses petty resources!). I contacted Russ who said he'd repair this issue as it wasn't normal, weeks passed and he assured me that he was moving appartments and he was without the internet.

I have since had no replys to my emails and I'm very dissapointed as I've paid for optimization which renders my server USELESS.

Russ, if your reading this, please contact me in regards to rectifying this issue or offering a refund if you no longer 'garuntee' your work!

Sorry about that, I do apologize.

As I said in that email/pm, I would take a look and redo everything at no charge. I do for the most part a standard set of options per each system, after all most are trying to achieve the same goals, I've never had this type of issue on the majority of my builds. But in some cases based on hardware it needs additional tweaking.

I've got established within the last week or so in regards to Internet, but was unaware this was still a lingering issue. Feel free to email me admin at vigeek.net
