Do you have any Linux experience?
If so, the *nix SRCDS does have a few one-ups from the windows version. Mainly -autoupdate.
If you have used only windows in the past, windows server handles SRCDS without a hitch

If it's TF2 you'll be running as far as I'm aware -autoupdate doesnt work, even on linux...

Are there css server updates often?
I know TF2 has been getting quite a few... Mainly because after every update they release a second update to fix what they messed up with the first

don't worry you'll get a lot of answers soon. the question about bandwidth was to provide more info for others who would have asked the same thing.
oh, i use both os's, centos for linux and server2003, i think linux makes it easier to manage multiple servers on one box. though if you use a control panel it's the same for both.

Yeah, I'd say if you know alot about linux use it. If you don't know alot with it stick to windows.
I went with linux, it's nice but for a noob way way more work. Then again I had to setup the software raid and so on, was a bit tricky got it setup now.
next is trying to get the servers running.
Good luck with your o/s.
