Hello there, I know alot of you run your own servers in Colocations and what not. I would like to know if any of you know of a good free ftp/control/ remote desktop program. Smile
I would like to have something I can install on my server and be able to access it here at my house and be able to drag and drop things into it when needed. http://www.logmein.com I know has one but I would rather find something free. Thanks for any help. Jake.

I use window's remote-desktop personally.
I would NOT use logmein. Paying for remote access is pointless... if you know what you are doing.

unless you're talking about something else all you need to do is click options from the remote desktop (start -> run -> mstsc), click the "local resources" tab and then check attach to local disk drives or something to that effect and then you'll see your local drives on the remote machine.

What's on the server currently?
You can also remote access with XP Pro.
If your server is running XP Home, you've got problems! Go buy a real OS NOW!

I don't have anything on it right now. Trying to find out what would be best. I am not to skilled with linux yet so that is out. So it was looking like server 2003. But then again xp pro could work as well? Do you know what all would be lost if I went with using xp pro?

The advantage to server 2003 is that multiple users can log in at the same time. It also has some better resource management.
