you shouldnt run a 100 tick server for more than 16 odd slots. find whispers guide to srcds somewhere on these forums. that will explain everything and even give you purdy tables to figure out what your looking for. also i dont think that box is beefy enough for 26 slots (let alone 100 tick) 1gb ram is not really enough.

edit http://forums.srcds.com/viewtopic/1094 is the post i was referring to, its very very useful

that can't be right because I got the same server with same specs from same company, It's also a Datacenter with full control and it's a 100 tick 26 slot plus I got a 16 slot 66 tick server besides running on the same system and it doesn't lag.

100 Tick 26 Slot server
66 Tick 16 Slot Server

so i got 2 servers on it without lag

hey okay, if you can do it, go for it. ive not run a server of that magnitude, but based upon whisper's findings he said that was bad - and he knows alot more about this than i do.

pentium d's are not truly dual core (but thats beside the point) your processing power is not the issue here, its your ram, scrds is a memory hungry beast especially for 26 slots, for full scale performance you'd want to be looking at more is all im suggesting - your bandwidth and processor can certainly cope, imo its the ram that will bottleneck.

from whispers post

Quote:< 20 Player servers
-tickrate 100
sv_maxrate 20000
sv_maxupdaterate 100
fps_max 600

> 20 Player servers
-tickrate 66
sv_maxrate 20000
sv_maxupdaterate 66
fps_max 600

i think that answers your question pretty competently

Its a known issue with the hl2 engine that anything over 12 slots and 100 tick is gonna cause inner game problems. You can fight it all day and disagree but its the fact, and its why I leave a 100 tick server if theres more than 15 people on it.

The specs on your box there look like your getting it from XLHost?

If you put it on 100 tick the server won't be very good so do your self a favour if you want to keep same slots as it is now, change it to tickrate 66 or if you wan't even more slots you can put it on 33 tickrate and make a few more slots. You'll need to get drocona(sorry if i spelt you name wrong Big Grin) to answer here. He is the best on this forum!

100 tick will decrease performance above 16-18 players, it will cause a weird lag, it's been confirmed by valve. You won't see anything when looking at server stats, but ingame it's real weird and laggy.

SRCDS can only use 1 core at the time, not both, so you'll ahve to calculate on to one core. When you have 2 servers you'll have to assign 1 server to core 1 and server 2 to core 2 to use the dual core concept.

A 2.8GHz intel CPU can and will hold 30 players at the same time at 100 tick, I got my 2.8GHz to run 40 players at 100 tick with a CPU usage of 90% (4x 10 player servers)

RAM isn't the problem most of the time if you don't go below 1gig.

lift the minrate, anything below 10000 (imo experience with hl2dm) allows players to take direct hits without damage (as the server rego just goes out the door) id recommend minrate/maxrate 20000/60000, but im not sure how your bandwidth would cope but im pretty sure it would be okay.

hmm,

rates are good, no problem there, and yes, 30000 is the maximum value for sv_maxrate.
The loss shouldn't be there tho, try to trace route (search on google or use ping plotter) to your server and see if there's a broken or slow link.
