there is no "right" one, i like centos myself, though if you ask 10 different people you'll get 20 different answers.

Yea i like Slackware (Stable, No BS & best for Security), Debian (for the apt-get), CentOS (for being lazy, lol), GenToo (just ask the guy over at SK) i also like FreeBSD (runs faster and its stable).

There you go, 5 of them! lol =)

just why would you need a 1000 FPS server lol, it's useless... unless you run 1000 tickrate but thats impossible.

You know, im qucikly finding out what he says to be true. Clients love my servers set to 333/500fps rather then 600/1000. Its all about consistancy. and a 1000fps server doesnt seem to have it. ive tested tested and tested with high res timers. It still get's out performed by 333/500fps.

you cant just set it to 1000. it takes alot of tweaks. you have just installed linux, you expect to get it right away? you can get 500fps by setting the kernel to 1000Hz, but true 1000Hz 1ms polling will take modifications to the actual kernel source.

Get to know linux first, finding out how to do 1000fps is the least of your problems. and there is plenty of places to show you how to do a basic recompile.. hell there is one on here. "search"

ok well...i can get a server runnin at 500fps on windows...the ONLY reason im tryin linux is for that fps boost lol.... unless you tell me that a linux server at 500fps runs better then a windows server at 500fps then im staying...cuz i mean if im going to get the same performance..then ide rather not learn a whole new Operatin System.

in my opinion yes it does run better then windows at same fps.

Sorry lol I don't want to be mean, I just wonder why people want to do the hardest things, but for what?
your server will run perfect 100tick on 150 FPS (it even does when FPS is 100 constantly) so why increase it.

It's ok if you want to try but I don't want people to be dissapointed after all their hard work.

People complained about my server when it was on windows, thats the whole reaon i swiched to linux, not because of fps.

as a matter of fact im going back to 333fps with a custom kernel. any value inbetween 333-983 just rapes cpu and you cannot feel a difference, its just eye candy.

hmm..well ok..is that 333 stable?...or does it fluctuate? cuz right now mine fluctuates like 400-80-500-600-300-800 u get the idea... but if the FPS at 333 is goin to fluctaute the same then i got the CPU powere to deal with the first option.
