I never liked the graphics engine, laggy as hell. I don't think online play will improve that :O or is it better?

lol, its not that its laggy, its just its very powerful, a 7950 can barely run it in 1280x1024 at max settings at around 40fps i belive, i could be wrong on the res. I know it uses alot of HDR though. thats why its now used as a benchmark for video cards.

I dont notice to much of the HDR. It has a lot of effect that i notice, like when you throw a granade you see the shock wave. But, the online play is really fast pace and fun.

Yeh well that's the problem of todays games I think, they are all using sooo much memory on the graphics card.... I got a 128MB 6600GT which is overclocked and beats most graphics cards on speed but no way I'm running F.E.A.R. on max because it uses way too much resources. I don't feel like upgrading either... costs me a shitload again.
And I know my PC is fine (3.0GHz 3GB DDR).

the 6600GT isn't that good of a card for the new generation of games & all of their textures & shading...

if i were you i'd pick up a 7600GT & that'd make a big difference for ya & they're only ~$140

you still won't get max settings but i'll play a lot better than the 6600

Yeah, 7600Gt only difference is that it has 256MB instead of 128, the rest is pretty much the same, that's why I don't like new games putting soo much resources on the graphicscard Smile

Another thing you can do is see which chip you're on, if the 6600 GT you have is the nv40, you MIGHT be able to unlock some pipelines.

the difference isn';t just amount of memory, the 6600 GT comes with 8 pipelines, while the 7600 GT has 4 more pipelines.

also stock clock speeds are higher of cource, stock for 6600GT:
core: 500MHz
memory: 1000MHz

stock clock for 7500 GT
core: 580MHz
memory: 1400MHz

also the 6600GT was built on support for OpenGL 1.5 while the 7600GT for 2.0

The only thing that is really the same between them is the fact both use 128bit memory interface.

*hugs his soon to be BFG 7900GT OC temporary solution until the G80 series is out and stable*

By the way, online play is free, the game isn't don't discuss wares in here. Thank you.

Just becareful with unlocking pipelines, rivatuner is good with this, but you can brick your card if you screw up =]

One thing you can do is look for bios' with unlocked pipelines, ther was a website, but i can't remember the name ;[

EDIT: heres the site: http://www.mvktech.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,26/func,selectfolder/cat,4/

you can't get the realistic graphics & textures without it (all the resources). You want a game light on resources? run doomII Rolleyes
