Hello i pay 150 dollars a month for a 1 meg by 1 meg line. This is a dedicated line. When first starting this server stuff I thought that i could have a 31.25 man room with the rates config right but i can only have a max of 16 people in this room should i spend the extra 150 dollars to go up to a 2 meg by 2 meg line so i would be paying 300 a month please help ????

Well, if i wanted for about 160 i can get 3 cable lines and have 45meg download and 6meg upload.
Currently i am working on getting a 2nd cable line and finishing off my multihomed BGP4 Gentoo linux based router im building.
I figured its alot easier when i host most of my gaming community servers at my house, that way if somethign goes wrong, im there to fix it ASAP.
i live in connecticut and my ISP is cox communications.
So to answer your question, Yea, i think you're paying too much.
edit: moving this to correct forum.

If you're looking for the cheapest solution, look into getting a dedicated server. For $160/month you should be able to get a machine/connection that can host well more than what you're doing now.

yeah, stick to a normal home connection for normal gaming and use, get a dedicated server, or pay per slot for srcds servers. I can hook you up with someone if you're interested.
If you get home connection, i recommend speakeasy DSL its $99/mo for 6mbps but well worth it.

I think your buisiness line is not SDSL but a dedicated T1 line, you'd pay way less by buying for example multiple ADSL(2(+)) connections, these will be faster AND cheaper.

True but I guess that depends a lot on where you live,
I have a ADSL connection at the moment and have had it for what 6 years or so, since it was available first time. Since I got it we had a total of 2 outages of 30 minutes!! I don't have overbooking and I only pay 20$ a month for 3000/512. For a T1 you'd be losing LOADS of money AND speed compared to the ADSL.
But as I said, might be just in holland the service is good like that?
