The specs you posted don't match any dedicated servers LayeredTech offers or what you say on the side of your website under "servers". Typo?

Well it's apparent the more you look at the commercial posts that "most" never make it in the rental business and many more are failing right now. Never hurts to point it out. Interesting in a sad kind of way. Rolleyes

I had rented a server just tonight from nuclearfallout and had to cancel the subscription within 3 hours. The ftp service was unbearable, read useless. Cut my losses that fast. Looks like they are having some real issues. They should change their name to nuclearfailout as that's the way they are headed.

I hear alot of bad things about NFO right now. Kind of sad. Also the fail rate for GSP is what 95%?

You either need something special or a good reputation to set up a GSP these days, most fail yes, but most were doomed in the first place anyway (starting before they know what they're doing, gameservers on home connections and such).

I've been working on the GSP side for a few years now, yet I still have not done ANYTHING in this region yet because I want to be sure it works. I'm sticking to webhosting until I can rent some 1U space or dedicated server from my webhosting income. This way it'll cost me "nothing" and I'm sure I won't lose money.

Yup Smile

I have 3 Quad Core Boxes now, all sold out in slots and I still don't profit much from it Toungue About to start my 4th one now due to demand... However the only reason I survived so far is because I started all this with the intention of providing quality game servers as a hobby, not as a business to make an income. (Though I run it as a professional registered business.)

One thing for sure, if your doing it for profit... your at the wrong place. Make sure you have a full time job first Toungue

GSPs really make dirt. Course I think it's a really fun job. But I doubt you can really live off of it.

Yea, starting/running a GSP can be hard. Heck the only way we could really get going is because of our Ventrilo servers. Kudos to anyone who wants to try, but they better have a rock solid business plan, and something to fall back on.

It seems the way to make money though is just to have really expensive Americas Army servers Shy but you think srcds uses a lot of cpu.. atleast AA is multithreaded tho.
