Last week Valve changed the way the hldsupdatetool works. It's actually very slick now, but it broke the solution I found for windows server owners to update their servers using a batch guardian and the Forlix metamod plugin, which I only discovered by monitoring tonight's updates.
Thanks Valve!

I apologize to everyone for being gone for over 6 months from updating this application.
I was busy at the end of 2011, got sick at the beginning of 2012 for a month, and then was offered a job in another city so I've been moving everything and readjusting.
What's the latest status with SRCDS Admin? I've read a few posts that said it's not working. I don't have a Source server anymore but will set one up for testing purposes. If you're having an issue, post it here or PM me and I'll update the application.
Thank you!!!

Hi BR5DY and welcome back.
I stopped using your program a long time ago due to the multiple server instance problem, but this post seems to highlight the main problems I can remember...
(04-07-2012, 01:20 PM)moxie2020 Wrote: Your program is the only one that has all of these features. The problem is most of them are broken.
1. Autoupdate - Does not work anymore
2. Server timeout - is too quick resulting in servers restarting when they are running just fine.
3. Duplicate Instances - The program sometimes launches a server instance and thinks it has failed even though it is already running. Then it can launch another server instance.
4. Email - Emails are too generic. If you have multiple locations how are you supposed to know which "server 1" it is referring to? It would be better if it used the server hostname or even ip address.
5. No Support - I have seen these issues reported for 5 months or more now and there is no response. If you do not want to support it anymore could you please post the source code so someone can make the necessary changes.
Please help. The community really needs a solution like this.
He is right - we do desperately need an all in one solution and it would be great if you could bring SRCDS Admin back to life. I am currently using a mash up of batch scripts, forlix mmrpatch (metamod) and various other sourcemod plugins to keep the servers online and updated and it just about all works together at the moment, but it is held together with string and it does not detect all crashes either.
Server Checker is the only other Windows (GUI) solution I have found but I tried that and it does not perform well or reliably on Server 2008.
So SRCDS Admin has great potential to fill a gap, and if you can get it working properly I am sure you will make a load of windows server owners extremely happy.
If you check a few messages back, Forlix has a solid working solution but it has no GUI monitor or ability to stop and start individual server instances. If you two worked together it would be a match made in heaven I think :-)
Good luck and thanks.

Thank you for the information. There is a forum thread over at AlliedMods.net where users have been reporting the same issues.
The good news is that all of the issues mentioned can and will be fixed over the next coming weeks.
I apologize for the lack of updates and support. I owned and operated an IT consulting company for about a decade, servicing nearly 1000 clients in my city. I was the only employee. As you can imagine, I was swamped. My work hours were sporadic and projects like SRCDS Admin got pushed and pushed to the side until they finally "fell off the desk", per se. In addition to that, I changed web servers at some point and somehow left off the SRCDS Admin support e-mail address from my list to migrate to the new server. There is a catch-all, which is probably why nothing ever bounced back. The problem is fixed now, and when you send an e-mail I'll get it. A few months ago I was offered a job with a company that has better benefits and a set time schedule. I accepted the offer and have been working there for a short time. Fortunately, this will allow me to devote more time to the development of SRCDS Admin and any other utility that may be of use to the community.
Again, thank you for posting so I know it's still a need to have an application like this. I will continue to keep everyone updated on the status through this thread. The bugs are my primary concern at the moment, so I will do my best to get those issues fixed, release an update, then move on into implementing new features.
Stay tuned!

Looking forward to the new release since I'm affected by the time-out -> restart problem. Any updates :-)?

I just started hosting servers and I found your application to be really good. One thing that irks me is that it conflicts with my Source games and prevents me from joining any server at all, whether in CS:GO or TF2 (Error: Connection failed after 4 retries).
If you could fix this, along with the problems listed above, i'd definitely use it.

Still working on it... Had some hardware issues with my test server that caused delays.
I haven't forgotten. Any bugs or comments that people have submitted I've been storing in my notes about it on my computer.
ETA is still ASAP. Will let you know when I get to a point of estimating.

Sorry for the delays, guys. I meant to give an update earlier. I appreciate the e-mails reminding me of the following of SRCDS Admin. I don't plan on making the software open source, but I am working on [at this very moment] a new, rebranded version. The new version is actually a brand new modern-looking application. It is more stable, cleaner, faster, cooler, better. I've already completed the redesign of the GUI, which now has a sans serif fonts and slick coloring. There are about a dozen new features that everyone is going to absolutely love. Right now my focus is on the core features - I want to get a stable release so everyone can start using it again. I'm really excited about pushing the new version out - I only wish I could have released it sooner.
I have noted everyone's suggestions and have been working them into the plan. I have also noted all of the bugs. There are a handful of issues caused by OS updates that, because of being programmed in an earlier version of Visual Studio, make it difficult and time consuming to trace and fix. I tried adding features months ago but kept running into roadblocks. This is a major reason why development stalled, but also one of the main reasons for rebranding.
I have removed the download links everywhere, explaining there is a new version in development. Hopefully this will prevent any frustration for those who are new to the program.
A friend of mine will be helping in the development work with me to speed things along. He is skilled in iOS development (hint), so look for that down the road!
This is still a popular application (when it works, ugh). Looking at the web traffic, there are people in over 10 countries that use this! Even more so a reason to push on.
Thanks!

News - 2/25/13
The "official" release of the new version is coming soon. A beta version is about to be released that has the main features in it. After the beta has been released, there will be weekly builds with more and more features.
The quickest way to find out about beta & stable releases, updates, information, etc., is to sign up with the mailing list here: http://ashersoftware.com/newsletter/
After a stable version has been released, and the website updated, I will also be adding an "idea box" so that the community can submit ideas to improve the application.
Thanks again!
