Let me guess what will happen if I do--someone will reply "USE SEARCH--THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED!"

This isn't a forum where kids frequent the boards, I'm most certain that a few people will mention their favorite distro and a few will tell you the final answer: "You should use whatever you like to use, the details go into your preferences, they are all the same in performance."

Now, no more distro's, just game panels.

SwiftPanel IS dead--I think you should remove it from the list.

Exo Control is on hold--it should be removed as well.

GameCreate is basically unusable--maybe a rating should be added to the list so people don't waste time on something that is unusable, dead, or unsupported.

Swift Panel is not dead. I have a friend that works with Will closely, and it is still under development. Just a very slow one Toungue

OK, dead in the water, then. No one should try to install it at this point.

I had my hopes up when Will quickly responded to my request for hosting the panel 2 weeks ago, then ceased all contact.

From the forum:

Quote:While I think we all appreciate any advice anyone can give us on this subject. I find your advice of "Wait until 2010 and we'll see if we get updates, if not stay with 1.6.1" to be the most unreliable statement ever made in these forums.

You are telling us all that we should bet our businesses on a "what if" scenario??
I'm not trying to offend you, but the thing is that some of us actually run successful businesses which bought into a Game Control Panel that was OUT of beta, and into V1 status. We all thought it was dependable, fast, efficient, and had a reliable staff behind it.

What we found out was: It IS fast & efficient, but is NOT to be relied upon due to it's neglect by it's creator(s). Service bills on Swift's part are not being paid, portions of the site are going down. It's only a matter of time (I bet January 1st 2010) before we are ALL shut down.

The bad press alone has destroyed this solution - regardless of if V2 comes out or not. This has given many other panels a lot of new clients that are migrating away from Swift. I for one do not want to migrate from Swift, and am happy with it. BUT, I digress... My what if scenario for you:

What if January 1st 2010 12AM hit's, and we are all shut down. Since we can't get into our Accounts on the SwiftPanel site (as of writing this and for the past few weeks) then we can't pay our bills. If we can't pay our bills, then our licenses expire. If our licenses expire, our panels are down - and our customers think we didn't pay and we're a bunch of cheap bastards.

SO I'm asking you Pixel3: What if THAT happens. Are you going to step in and straighten out the hordes of REALLY aggravated users? I doubt it. But i"m sure you have something witty to say about it!

And while I am at it, a suggestion to Will: We all respect your hard work. But it seems you've dropped us all like a brick. I suggest you just grant us ALL an extension on our Free licenses for a few more months into the 2010 year. This would calm us all down, and buy you the much needed time. Advertise this on the front page, and avoid the masses in the forums for now. This would settle our worries, and keep Pixel3 from saying stupid things...

I think this thread should be cleaned up and moved to the resources forum.
Too many people are asking the same questions over and over "CONTROL PANEL THIS AND THAT"

This is a great useful list... It needs to be used more often.

Think it should be a page on the srcds main site. Some one should make that site a bit more tasty too.

Found tons of spelling errors and no updates in long time.
I believe it's dead.

But the cool about it is that you can run TF2 with 100tick! Big Grin
