mani and rcon can be used simultaneously.

if you can use rcon in game, then the rcon should work through hlsw.

is server on your lan? if you type status in game in console, what ip address is shown?

yea i have this problem too with hlsw.. although i know i can connect via rcon, i can connect with hlsw on the same machine as the server is ran, but its kinda pointless, and i can view the server on another computer.. it just won't connect. my server is not a lan server, it has been up for a long while. its just since i last reformated the hd of the server comp though. the server and everything works just fine, i just can't connect with hlsw from another location, and also.. don't know if its related or not, but the server doesn't show up in the lan area, like it should. i have to add the lan ip to the favorites section.. anyways.. help on this would be awesome.

-edit-
i also have mani.. it workd before though.

With HLSW make sure you do this:

If you are connecting OVER the internet (like from work > home or school > home) then use your REAL IP and get the log VIA the internet button.

If you are connecting OVER a Local Network (Like from upstairs to down) then you place the server in the LAN list and get the log VIA the lan button.

Make sure you have these cvars...

Code:
//RCON Controlers
sv_rcon_minfailuretime 30
sv_rcon_banpenalty 60 // Ban time in minutes for bad password
sv_rcon_minfailures 3
sv_rcon_maxfailures 5
rcon_password "***PASSWORDHERE***"

that sux.. someone?! i know theres gotta be some master-mind runnin around this forum that knows everything.. and just doesn't wanna hit the post reply button...

i guess we can all hope lol.

if nuttin else though i can just remote desktop the computer after i move it, but still.. HLSW would be A LOT easier. hmm... the whole my server not showing up on the lan folder is very odd as well.. but that won't matter as soon as i move the computer, but i wonder if these problems have any relation?

What ports does HLSW use? I never need to open any so I never tried to look them up. Now I will and if I find em I will post back here.

thats cool you got it fixed.. mine still doesn't.. and the ports wouldn't matter.. cuz its lan, right now anyways. and even still i tried to dmz the whole computer, still nothing, and it is open in the firwall as well on the computer.. soo yea.. hmm.. i dont know.. im soo lost

-edit-
well i guess i lied.. found out that it is the firewall in xp sp2... and i tried opening the ports, and it still blocks it. the only way it will connect is if i disable it, which doesn't make sense? cuz it workd before i formated the hard drive, and i have everything the same installd. i don't know.. i do know that i don't want to put down the firewall though. so if anyone has any other ideas.. that would be great.
