Also did you notice how old this thread is?

Sorry I just have to correct you there. FPS = Frames per second yes, but what it is is how many times the picture is shown on your screen.

e.g: Films you see in the cinema generally run at 24 FPS same goes with UK TV (hence the reason you get black lines across a CRT TV when you try to record it with a camera)

In SRCDS the FPS only really shows the average fps the users can expect to get whilst playing

It doesnt sow how many times the CPU thinks at all...

The higher the FPS though the smoother the gameplay will be

Triple corrected!
Yeah thats what most FPS is, but there is two types of FPS in srcds hosting. The one your talking about was client-side but the one Drocona was talking about was server-side. Humans can see past like 26 FPS so the higher the FPS the smoother the gameplay is wrong. Each frame, SRCDS gathers information and thinks what its going to do. Then each tick it sends the information to the client. Thats why higher FPS doesnt require higher bandwidth but tickrate does.

You are both right Smile just slight misunderstanding I think

Cept for that lol. Who told you that?

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps

Server FPS is based on the amount of times the CPU processes data per second.
Client FPS is based on the amount of refreshes per second the GPU does.

Server FPS has nothing to do with the client FPS, a server can have a FPS of 5, while my client has 200 at that same time.

Higher server FPS results in smoother game for the CLIENTS because it processes data more times per second.
Higher client FPS results in smoother VIDEO output, which makes the game play nice.
