I haven't messed with srcds for about a month or two, so I decided to bookmark and check out Drocona's
Source Dedicated Server Guide on Planet Half-Life. Not only did it refresh my memory, but I also learned some new stuff about srcds. Anyways, when I use "-ip <external ip>" like the instructions tell me to, I get a "Server UPD port" error. But, if I use "+ip <internal ip>" it starts up. I am behind a router and have these ports forwarded according to Drocona:
Quote:UDP 1200 (Friends Network)
UDP 27000 to 27015 (Gameport)
UDP 27020
TCP 27030 to 27039
TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)
Which am I supposed to use? If it is -ip then what could be my problem?
thanks,
mzracer360

I have a problem, my server is running perfectly except that it's only a LAN I went to gametiger and my external IP (I use a Westell DSL Router) doesn't give any results (neither does STEAM) I opened up all the ports like shown in the guide and the my start line is as follows:
start /high /wait srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map cs_office +maxplayers 16 -ip 192.168.1.97 -port 27015 -tickrate 66 +mp_dynamicpricing 0
(notice that I use the "Restarting srcds at crash" batch file to run SRCDS)

make sure no firewalls or anti-virus utilities are blocking the program, also if that doesnt work try to make a direct connection with the internet, if it works the router is your problem.
One other thing you could do is try the DMZ option in the router.
