try the ip command in the console window

ip *.*.*.*

replacing the ****'s with your external ip which you can get from your router or going here http://www.alexnolan.net/ip/

press enter

now type

map a_map_of_your_choice

press enter

check the server list your server should be there

otherwise double check your firewalls & exceptions

if it is still failing try setting your dmz server on your router and enable/disabling NAT filtering also on your router

@ Things you need to know how to do:
@ How to find the internal IP of your server

Make sure you have forwarded your ports. Goto http://www.portforward.com. Then on the main page click on the Routers hyperlink, then click on your router on the next page. Then find "Steam Server" and follow the directions.

@ Still doesn't work? Or, already did that? ...

Next thing to try is to DMZ your router. In basic terms that really means directing all unknown traffic to a designated IP address. In your router homepage, there should be a DMZ option under advanced topics or it may even be under normal router configuration. Just place your internal IP of the server in the IP space, and you are ready to go.
*Note make sure you have a firewall on your server because DMZing pretty much opens the server up to attacks.

@ Still doesn't work? Or, already did that?

Make sure your firewall (if you have one) has the necessary ports open. Even try turning off the firewall to see if the server can connect without any firewall. If it can, you need a new firewall.

@ Still doesn't work? Or, already did that?

NAT Filtering (Try setting to open if running a router)
This option determines how the router deals with inbound traffic. The Secured option provides a secured firewall to protect the PCs on LAN from attacks from the Internet, but it may cause some Internet games, point-to-point applications, or multimedia applications not to work. The Open option, on the other hand, provides a much less secured firewall, while it allows almost all Internet applications to work.

Default DMZ Server (Lan IP of your server machine)
Specifying a Default DMZ Server allows you to set up a computer or server that is available to anyone on the Internet for services that you haven't defined. There are security issues with doing this, so only do this if you're willing to risk open access. If you do not assign a Default DMZ Server, the router discards any incoming service requests which are undefined.

Other than triple checking your ports, the only other options are ...

=== Your router is incompatible with SRCDS
To check for this problem, plug your TF2 server directly into your modem. And check to see if your server is listed in TF2 / steam.

=== Your ISP is blocking the required ports
If it can't, chances are that your ISP is blocking the ports.
You could phone your ISP and ask for the ports to be unblocked, but beware, bust ISP's TOS do not allow servers.

OrganDonor, thanks that worked, so know I just put that info into server.cfg?

Will people still be able to connect from L4D with the maptype they want?

Also, I know it is not a port issue, I am a pro at settings that up. Toungue Just the Listen server is new to me.

Server is up with SourceMod, going to have to code up some L4D commands in that but other then that I am good.

Does anyone know why I have issues with my ingame console "lossing" or "mixing up" info that is displayed while I am in a game?

Even status mixes stuff up, easy way to show you is this.

~Before joining a server~ () is cfg info
exec test

(echo) test
(echo) test1
(echo) test2
(echo) test3
(echo) test4
(echo) test5
(echo) test6
(echo) test7
(echo) test8

~In server~

exec test
echo test echo test1

echo test5 echo test4

echo test6

echo test7

Putting the "map" and "ip" into server.cfg messed it up, so I had to put them in a .cfg of there own and run it before I join ever time, is there a easier way to do it?[/i]

if you put the map in server.cfg you'll call a loop and srcds will crash/run out of resources

your ip should be fine in there tho i think

i use tf2 not familiar with l4d

Ok, new issue I installed SourceMod but it seems like only admins can join the server yet reserved slots are set to 0.

Fixed.

Joining your internal ip. Try setting your external IP in the startup line.

That's IMPOSSIBLE

I've said it millions of times: Unless your computer OWNS the IP address you can NOT bind an IP owned by your router/gateway/whatever.
You get the allocation error.

Did the OP not say he had it setup with a static IP.

Edit : Guess not :\, must have read that somewhere else.

Regardless of the fact that he would have a static IP, I'm basing it off the internal IP number Smile

On a network only the gateway/router has the possibility to own the external IP, which would show as 192.168.0.1 for internal users. Any higher IP will most likely not be the gateway (it's possible but that would just be weird haha Big Grin)

So what do I do? :-p

People are telling me then can only join with the IP with out the port...
