Way to ban a certain name from server?

Hey guys...Just wondering...

Is there a certain way to ban a name from the server.

My server has been recently falling victim to an increasing amount of server hacks (about 2 per month) and usually the people who come in to hack the server have no name. Probably just a space. It says Player has joined the game. and when I type "status" in console, it just says "" where his name should be.

I would like to ban that so you need a certain name to come into the server, sort of like in Team Speak.

You can find his ID, type status and there will be a player ID next to it. Grab that and run this command:

banid (ID NUMBER) 0 kick

So that would ban the person permanently, and kick them

What sucks about this though, is if their in spectator, you cant get their steamid. . .

No, no, not the steam ID, the user id.

Well I know how to ban by their name.

What I meant I guess, was like, is there a way, to just ban a name, in general, without waiting for a person with that name, who could be potentially dangerous enter the server.

And another thing that I thought of. Can you change the ban message, to make it seem like that name isn't banned? Like change it to "Missing Maps" or "Error 90832349023" or something like that, so its inconspicuous and they don't think that name is banned, and it discourages them from even trying to enter the server?

iirc, there is a sourcemod plugin that does this

Just make an auto kick text called

autokick_pname.txt

and put the names you wanna ban/kick at join in it

"unconnected" b/k

b is ban and k is kick!

Should work..

Just put it in cfg/mani_admin_plugin/ ( You gotta restart your server for it to take effect!

We tried that, and it worked.
Unfortunately the server hackers keep coming, with different names/ip's/steamid's, and its just getting too overwhelming. We're switching back to a hosting company.
