Fast Download FTP Bzip2?
#1
Hey all, i have ubuntu server that runs CS:S pretty well, the only thing that is shite is the downloads speed, its hell slow, and being a webmaster i have a web server, that can support real fast downloads, i do have unlimated space, but i would love to bzip down the files?

Is that right?
i have 7-zip..?

Now i dont get how the zipping works in relation to uploading..
So i keep the same download folder structure as my game server?

If so do i zip the whole lot? like the entire maps folder?

Or indvdually? each map? if so individually, so i have to also upload/zip .nav .res and .txt files?

And what about sounds and materials?

please help!

bzip2 each map seperately - keep the folder structure

You can do what I do which is use a batch file I just take my maps that I wanna put in one of my servers throw it in a folder I have for zipping then I use my batch file which zips each map inside the folder for me then it uploads the files for me! It pays to be smart and lazy.

.nav not so much but hey why not, you know what I mean lol. Yes i wrote the batch file When i get to my home machine i will post it for you to use. Its very useful for multiple servers. I just have it send all the bzip files to my fastdownloads webserver. And I use a different one for uploading to my different servers.
