Multiple L4D Servers - Single File Set or Multiple
#1
Hello,

I'm currently running 3 L4D servers on the same PC. Each instance is running on it's own dedicated set of files.

For performance sake, is it better to continue running the servers this way or should I run multiple servers from a single set of files?

Thanks.

It's really what you prefer, there is no difference in performance.

running from dedicated installs gives you more options in configuration
running from one install will use less HDD space

What options might that be? I run two forked servers, and they are quite different, each with its own config file.

The only real advantage in dedicated installs I can see, is the possibility to run the servers with non-sequential port numbers. And to start and stop each server without affecting the other ones.

Oh, only now I realise that we are in the Windows section of the forum. Does the Windows L4D server even allow for multiple forked servers? I am used to Linux myself.

Thank you. I shall leave them running as they are.
