You don't have enough upload to hold 10-12 players at anything with that upload, thats why your cleints pings flys into the wild.

there seems to be a lot of different slot # from all this sites

Quote:128K uplink = 2 players
256k uplink = 4 players
320k uplink = 6 players
512k uplink = 9 players
768k uplink = 14 players
1024k uplink = 19 players
1140k uplink = 21 players
1708k uplink = 32 players

this comes from http://cpnclan.home.comcast.net/~cpnclan/player.html

Quote:Bandwidth: Bandwidth is used a lot—more specifically, upload bandwidth. Here is a list of how fast your connection must be to run a certain number of players at lowest settings. (When talking about bandwidth for servers we always talk about upload, not download.) Note: these numbers are theoretical, your results may vary slightly!

So if you're doing 100Tick? Counter-Strike: Source?

Then it's not enough for 100tick.

I'll say again, all the values you find on the internet are at LEAST 1 year old, a lot has changed in the engines/bandwidth. Also all those values in guides (including the ones in my article, the one you quoted on planet half life) are THEORETICAL (like mentioned in my article too), it's just to give an indication of how things would be running. I would rewrite it with new values but next year I'll ahve to change it again and again. Besides that I can't even edit it.

at the current bandwidth rates you'll be looking at this:
8 players = 512kbps (semi-low quality)
14 players = 1024kbps (reasonable quality)
20 players = 1500kbps (reasonable quality)

These are for 33 tickrate, if you go higher you can almost double the amount you need.

Thanks

-tickrate 66 has to be in the command line that you use to start your game, also the clients connecting must have there cfgs on the client side set to utilize the servers settings. Ill try and dig up the client side cfgs.
