TF2 Dedicated Server NR Issues
#1
I have a TF2 Dedicated Server, it is running on my static ip home internet (50Mb up 30 Mb down).

I can join it fine because I join it as a lan. None of my steam friends have been able to join, they say it says the server is not responding. I have 27015 forwarded and sv_lan set to 0. I just started this server up. I used to have 3 CSS servers and I never had this problem. Any ideas would be of great help. Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks,

If they are trying to join through steam's friend options it's always going to show it's not responding because since it is local to you, it will show up as 192.168.x.x to your friends. Just goto whatismyip.com and give them that IP.

I know that, I give them my server ip:
75.146.185.137:27015
This still doesn't help me on how they can't connect through the gigantic list of servers ether or direct ip (adding ip to favs)
None is able to connect in any way other then me.

you don't "need" to forward that port you should only need to forward the port the server is running on.

I'm assuming you have your cable router/modem going to a accesspoint/switch of somekind.

For a dedicated server - you only need the port the server is
listening on to be open to the public (ie,TCP Port 27015)
You've already got your IP's to redirect from outside to inside,
So just follow the steps from here for your specific device:
http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Although Steam doesn't officially support it - try putting your
192.x.x.13 box in the DMZ of your switch/accesspoint and try to
connect to test and see what happens.

(Snip-it from Steams Support:
Required Ports for Steam
Your network must be configured to allow Steam access to the following ports:

Steam Client
UDP 27000 to 27020 inclusive
TCP 27020 to 27050 inclusive
Dedicated or Listen Servers
TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port))

I cant thank you guys enough but all of the things you have suggested I have done. I have run srcds servers many times before in Counter Strike Source without a hitch. I know all about port forwarding and it is all done correct, I know this issue sounds like a port issue I can assure you it is not. I just recently reinstalled the TF2 srdcs and I'm still getting the same error, Server not responding.

If anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks again for all your help!

So based on your message - can you create a CS Source server on that same box and have someone connect from the outside?
Also, what operating system are you using to host this?

Since he posted in the srcds Windows forum my guess would be that hes using Windows Smile

Im bumping this one because I have the same problem, but [TgA] ATI explained it better then me.

The only difference is that my server gets listed in the server list and I can get the server info, but when I try to connect I get "Server not responding" and Im kicked back to the server list, and if I refresh my server wont show up again. But if I restart the game the server shows up in the server list.
If I repeat this around 5-10 times I might get lucky and Im able to connect to my server.

Im hoping my contribution to this problem can help.

Update:
And one more thing, sometimes when I cant get a connection with the server Im still able to refresh it in the server list, and I can see the ping so my client can apparently get a connection with my server just that I can join it. And when I look in the console window of my server I can see any footprints on me trying to connect or anything.

This thing is really beginning to boggles me.

Well I can assure you that when you can join the server fine locally it's a relay problem.

This can either be a firewall, virusscanner, gateway, router, or even your ISP.
If you can play on your own server it means it's working perfectly fine.

Also you can't join a network server from the internet list if you are on the same network as the server unless the server is directly on the internet and has access and has bound to the external IP address.
