SRCDS Steam group


Jumping ping and various other problems.

Hey there. I am running a CSS server with mani, metamod and eventscript sorta fine, on a windows machine.

Altho, lately theres been this thing that sometimes everyones ping jumps to like 400-500.. extremely lagg, but then disappears. I have 1mbit upload, the rates should be ok, and it does it with both tick 66 and 100. what do you think?

also since i installed metamod, every message i type with admin say (@ message), gets duplicated.. what is causing this?

and finially, another thing.. when i change map, my voice gets completely deactivated.. for everyone.. sv_voiceenable is still set to 1 and everything should be fine but no.. wwwwwwwwwwhhhhat

Well 1mbit won't hold anything more than 14 players at 33 tickrate, that's probably why it lags, that's like 6-8 players at 66 tick, 4 at 100 tick.

If it's duplicated you probably have mani installed on both metamod AND the .vdf. Simply remove the VDF and run on metamod.

Hm okay i will lower it to 33 tick then... weird because its online sometimes for like 1 min
or less.. all the other time it runs just fine..

as of the vdf, im pretty sure i have removed it :S

Tickrate 33 is worse than 100..

It runs better with Tick100 even tho its a 12 slot with 1mbit.

check your rates? also when people download custom maps, sounds, etc itll make the pings skyrocket

i have disabled sounds, and all other files are hosted at another place..

Which rates are best for tickrate 100?

sv_maxcmdrate 101
sv_maxupdaterate 101
sv_mincmdrate 33
sv_minupdaterate 101

also, im assuming you have fast downloads enabled, do you have the site entered right in the server.cfg file for the fast downloads?

Yes, im pretty certain, besides there's only 1 file that needs to be downloaded and thats the map.

REBDK, I can assure you it won't run better at 100 tick with only 1mbit, if I do some calculations you won't be able to play lag free after the 6th player joins.

14 players @ 33 tick
or 6-8 players @ 66 tick
