I think a 32 player tf2 server might be just a little too much for my server to handle.
I was wondering *before I lower the maxplayers to 28* if there are any cvars or other tricks that would help smooth things over at 32 players?

I believe you can also lower sv_maxrate (mabye to 10000? or even 5000 if stingy)
The amount of data transferred through lowering sv_maxupdaterate is dependant on the tickrate of the server anyways but if you don't want to restart the server you could lower that too - to 33 mabye?

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that tf2 was stuck at 66 tick, and you could not change it?
that was a long time ago, I don't remember looking into it

You can use any tickrate from 20-66 on TF2 as far as I know.

The max for TF2 is 66.
You can go lower then 66, just not higher (as far as I know of)

Lowering the load by limiting it with sv_maxrate is like opening a water valve fully and tie a knot on the hose.
