How many slots? (CSS)
#1
Alright, it's a Intel Quad-Core Xeon X3220 2.4GHz with 8MB cache, 4GB Corsair TWIN2X 5400 DDR2. 100/100mbit connection, but I get like 95/60mbit. The box is dedicated and is running on Windows Server 2008.
How many slots can I have on Counter-Strike: Source?
Example: 20 slots per core, or something like that.

Also, how many slots can I have on Counter-Strike 1.6?
Which CPU is best to buy: Xeon Quad-Core X3220 or Intel Core2Quad Q6600?

No use to bump, also I don't have much experience with the Xeons but I think you should be able to hold at least 30, maybe 40 100 tick slots per core.

I thought the maximium slots with 100 tickrate was 18? Is my CPU good enough to take 40 slots?

yeah, maximum for one server, but the CPU should be able to hold 30 players divided over a few servers

So, that'd allow me (with my CPU and RAM, don't think about bandwidth) to run eight 100 tickrate servers with 18 slots on each?

Yeah, IF you can hold 36 players per core that is.
