Please tell me what is causing these and how to fix them!
I followed the How To... on the main page step by step exactly.

Also, another problem I am having is that i cannot control the server from in game, i typed in rcon_password (password) and i tried to change the level and it said that i did not control the server.

Help?

I think those errors can be ignored, I see various errors along those lines when our servers start up...

did you preceed your changelevel command with rcon. i.e. did you type in rcon changelevel mapname ?

The only problem I see is that you don't have a server.cfg file. You really should write one.
rcon wont work because you don't have a rcon password defined in your server.cfg Toungue

Besides that, the other errors are ok. SRCDS pops a LOT of random errors in the console. Don't worry about them unless they crash your server Toungue.

I thought I DID write one, and I did! I just realized it was named config.cfg instead of server.cfg.
I can't believe I did something so stupid! Thanks for all your help guys!

Edit: Nevermind, I still have problems. I still get that it wont open server.cfg. Also, my server is just named Counter Strike Source instead of what i named it int the server.cfg. In addition, the server doesn't say what I wrote in the motd.txt. And I can't even find the autoexec.cfg that the official website says I need. Why do I have these problems?

where is your server.cfg?
you don't need an autoexec I think...

It's a good idea to have the cvars and rates, and so on.
In the autoexec.cfg
But use the server.cfg to:

rcon_password xxx
hostname "xx"
sv_password " "

save it into: cstrike/cfg/

OK, I moved my Server.cfg to cstrike/cfg/ and I will let you guys know if it works.

Edit: I still get the "Cannot Exec Server.cfg" And what about the motd.txt? And where do I find autoexec.cfg?

cstrike/motd.txt
cstrike/cfg/server.cfg
cstrike/cfg/autoexec.cfg

Corrected line 3

cstrike/cfg/motd.txt

I tried make my server.cfg as a .txt document but it didnt work, so just copy the skill1.txt and paste it again in cstrike/cfg.

And rename it to "server"

Then write the stuff "hostname xxx" etc..etc..

coz u need the file to be .CFG

When saving, select Save As: "All files" then the filename "server.cfg" (INCLUDING quotes)

or just turn of the "hide known extensions" option in the folder view settings.

Oh my gosh thank you so much! That worked! Now my server has the right settings!

However, I still can't find my autoexec.cfg. I think I don't have one =/
Also, people can't connect to my server. I gave my friend the IP and he couldn't connect.

*Sigh* Making a server is so complicated.

are you giving your friend your external IP? (http://www.whatismyip.org)

and you are sure you are giving the right IP? because the IP that i saw in the console window is your IP that's leased by the ROUTER, not your ISP, if you give friends that IP, your friends can't find it. (unless your friends use the same router, live in the same house Toungue)
