Lag spikes
#1
Question
Im running a garrysmod server in sanbox mode at 33 tick and whenever 5-7 people get on I get a huge latency spike to 960-990 pings. Now my computer is more than capable its a
2.4 Pentium 4 overclocked to 2.5 ghz
it has 1.5gig of memory
its got a Great mother board (Haven't looked at what kind yet xD)

And it still seems to do that dam spike, Anyway
I was thinking it would be a network problem. I have around 6 computers on my router and I was thinking that the router might be getting choked because of all these computers?

Also if it is getting choked can you set up two modems in the same house? Or would you have to pay for two different connections.

Ping means the connection can't handle, what's you connection speed?

they are limiting you, they have speedboost which enables short periods of large down/up if you are uploading consistently they cap your upload at 256-512 which is half of your speed report.

You'd have to look into your options real good, don't make decisions too fast.

DSL is 1:1 and guarantees the speed they advertise (1 client on 1 line)
Cable is always overbooked in busy area's it can go up to 50:1 (50 clients on 1 line)
