Bad Rego on my server
#1
I'd like to know if anyone ever experienced "rego" issues with their server?

My network seems to be fine
The hardware is fine

My guess is its somthing to do with the actual software. CSS Source

I know that the server has to predict player actions and can refuse some. But it seems to be refusing too much. Many people say that their bullets don't hit. (Mainly when the target is moving)

Strange thing is somtimes its great, but other times people say its terrible. Either way the network and hardware load were fine.

Using the following settings:
Tick = 66
fps = 600
fpsboost is activated
All srcds set to high priority

sv_minrate 20000
sv_maxrate 30000
sv_maxupdaterate 67
sv_minupdaterate 67
sv_maxcmdrate 67
sv_mincmdrate 67

sv_client_interpolate 1
sv_client_max_interp_ratio 1
sv_client_min_interp_ratio 1

sv_unlag 1
sv_maxunlag .5

Most players have pings from 30ms to 50ms and Tick rate and server FPS hold fine.

I have 2 servers, Dual Xeon's and Quad Core Q6600. Both are having issues. They both hosted at a professional datacenter on a 10mbit in and out connection. I've only reached 3mbit max so far and the server load never goes beyond 40% to 70%

Any help would be great.

Cheers

I have this trouble sometimes, especially on our deathmatch. And as you said its sometimes fine, sometimes it isn't.

Try setting all the unlag and interploate settings to default (They might be at default I'm not really sure). Now reg seems to be annoying because reg. might be fine on one server and on a twin of that server it might not be fine. Only thing I can say is to see if you FPS is stable?

It stays around 400 to 500. Jumps around that mark. I'd assume thats stable. I'll play around with the settings a bit more.

Stable I meant
512
512
512
512
511
512
512
And so on Toungue. Try setting a lower fps_max so it stays more stable.

what can I do to make the FPS_MAX more stable without having to lower it? The server load is fine, so why does it drop ?

It doesn't work that way, at least not on my server. I'd assume it doesn't work that way on any server.

See my earlier post today. I've got statistics how my server does 350-500 FPS for a week with "fps_max 600". Then I change "fps_max 0" and the server does 600-900 FPS for a week. Why did the FPS fluctuate between 350-500 when it in reality could do "stable" over 600?

There's also new(?) theory about fluctuating FPS. It's caused by SourceTV. Read about it here http://forums.srcds.com/viewtopic/7170.

I'm ready to set up FPS statistics for any server. Just PM me if you're interested.
