Problems installing server
#1
Hey (im new Toungue ).

I have an old Server from work sitting in my house and I thought I'd try to make a small dedicated for my friends and I running Counter-Strike Source.

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 x86
AMD Athlon 64 @ 2.0GHz
1GB DDR2-800
160GB WD 7200RPM / 2x80GB partitions
Static IP / port 27015 udp open

I tried installing using HldsUpdateTool, but I got the following:

EDIT: I tried creating the directory c:\srcds\css\, but it said cannot create directory as one already exists.
EDIT2: deleting the .blob file didnt help either.

So, I then tried the GUI Steam-based dedicated server. I installed both the Source and TF2 servers. The TF2 server launches and plays without a hitch, I can join it and everything. But the Source version (the one I really want), gives me this:

So, is this a problem with Server 2003 (i.e. data execution prevention?) or a network issue? Any fixes? There are no Windows errors that come along with it.

I am running LogMeIn and the Wise-FTP backup utility.

Oh, I also heard of a program that can install the server and admin plug ins at the same time, but I can put the name to it - does something like this exist?

Glad to see you joined us Smile
I'm going to let someone else give it a try first.
I think that the srcds error normally means you just need to re-try a few times but I could be wrong.

Please do not PM me for server related help

Try removing the trailing slash in the commandline for the updater.

Also the mountfilesystem error is totally random and nobody knows a fix(as far as I know), like Mooga said, just keep trying till it works
