yeah my very first thought was firewall or router,but today after work I totally revamped my whole network rebuilt tcp/ip stack ,removed freakin norton internet security with removal tool and all {its gone Smile }
I am using bitdefender 08 now...but right after i got rid of norton i exposed my server to the net and still nothing...and no ...windows fire wall all the way to its startup service was disabled...so i am at a total loss....i have even tried using my main gaming machine to host a small server just to see if it would connect and still nothing.....went to sheilds up and checked ports....hell they think i am some kinda prankster cause they cant see me at all ..but they know im there cause i did the port check lol.....but i really do appreciate all the help from everyone thanks for tryin guys. if anyone remembers something that might help i am getting email for replys to this post and ill leave it up for a while.. ok guys i might have an answer for all who has the same or similar problem as myself, i have come to realize that what i thought to be MODEM...in fact is actually a MODEM/ROUTER!! well anyone who knows anything knows it is quite different to hook up a modem to a router than it is to hook up a router to a router so i am in the process of contacting my ISP to get the proper configuration so they work together properly....my modem/router is a eq660r adsl modem/router...i will report back with all the details to resolve this issue.

Server will not connect or can't see server { just some key words for other peeps}
OK fixed it everyone here goes my little tut on this subject:

Ok for those who have had problems with their server not getting out past just LAN....check this...your modem may also be a router/modem combo...

WARNING IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING CALL YOUR ISP!!!
READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!!
YOU MAY END UP WITH OUT INTERNET!

This is for my modem/router yours may not be the same my modem/router is a Embarq eq 660r adsl

first thing i want to say is its a matter of bridging , type in your browser window: http://192.168.2.1 that will bring you to your modem/router setup page..the first 2 pages on mine i click ignore to get to the main setup....
then go to maintenance/diagnostics then find network layer diagnostics..press release WAN IP , then select "change to bridge mode" thats about it close everything up.

Now you may not have Internet at first after doing this..you need to shut down the modem/router then shut down the router..IE linksys..or what ever type you have..unplug it or what ever...shut down your pc...turn on the modem/router let it power all the way up { your internet light will not come back on...dont have a heart attack !} now turn on your router then power up your pc if you still do not have internet try it all again..sometimes it take a bit for the bridging to take effect.... you may need to call your ISP to get the proper configuration for your tcp/ip and the DNS. AGAIN IF THIS SEEMS LIKE CHINESE TO YOU CALL YOUR ISP FOR HELP FIRST!!
Hope I could help a little. }TpG{ BioHaZarD
P.S. LOL guess im the smartest and i didnt even know it hahaha thanks to everyone who tried to help.

You simply set the DMZ option, also 2 gateways = bad. Smile

thanks for the reply but we had set the DMZ on the linkysys router and tried all kinds of other stuff and when i set the DMZ i removed the port forwards so as not to conflict and did it with DMZ and ports forwarded and still nothing....and there is no setting in the eq 660r adsl modem/router for DMZ....and like i said if i had realized that my modem was not just a modem but a router as well..i would have figured this out alot sooner...but all and all it works now and maybe this info will help someone else out in the future.

Yeah I meant more like some routers call DMZ Bridged mode, but bridge mode actually is something different than DMZ really. Just the simpleness of manufacturers and their visions.
