[TF2] Server not visible
#1
I've looked around a bit, but couldn't find an answer for my situation;

I'm running a dedicated TF2 server on a colo machine. As such it has a very direct internet connection, so no need for telling routers where to go, etc. Have been running UT servers on the same machine/configuration in the past.

Problem is, the machine isn't showing up in the server list, nor on the server custom list. I can connect by using the IP or dns name.

sv_lan = 0 in the sever.cfg, so that should be okay too, I guess?

Any ideas in what might be the problem?

TIA

IIRC it can sometimes take up to 30 minutes after starting the server to be added to the Internet/Custom tab.

have you been being patient?

Of course I have been impatient. Wouldn't you? Wink

But it's been almost 24 hours now, so that should be enough...

Weird thing is, I still can't see it, but I see someone has connected app. 19 hours ago. So maybe I'm going blind and it is in the list after all.

Yup. It's not there either.
It's a fully standard, butt-naked installation though, so it should be in the default server list.

I'd check with the colo company if one of their firewalls are blocking port 27011 if they have them. A server ALWAYS works out of the box if it's directly on the internet.

They claim not to block any traffic whatsoever, unless they're asked to do so. And since I own the rack this server is in, I'm pretty sure they weren't asked to do so.

I'm having doubts it might just be my client not seeing them. Maybe a problem with the ping scan or something. I remember having had a similar problem years ago when I used UT99 for the first time. I noticed another player connected today, so it must be visible somewhere... Smile

Interesting... I just updated to the latest version (yeah, I'm slow) and suddenly it shows up without any other changes needed.

Weird innit?
