Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
#1
I just got a free Windows Server 2008 Enterprise license from Microsoft and I set up my SRCDS on it tonight. I've read through this guide: http://cpnclan.home.comcast.net/~cpnclan/guide1.html but I do not want to do anything yet because I am not sure what proper procedures are out there for SRCDS & Windows 2008.

What is the best way to optimize performace (tick & FPS) on a Windows 2008 Server?

Thanks!
I am running srcdsfpsboost and i get between 415 - 450 FPS. Also, is there a command to see my tick rate? Thanks.
My tickrate is 66 - I guess thats good enough. Wink

Really just depends on what you are running, most tweaking is to make windows run as light as possible though I've never used server before so I'm not sure how that runs out of the box.

Having FPS boosted is good for performance, 66 tick seems good, that's if you have enough upload bandwidth available.

Sorry about that - thanks for the tip!

As for my Servers FPS, I was wrong. it sits between 30-80 and every once and a blue moon it spikes way high. What can I do to boost my servers FPS?

This box is a dual xeon HT 2.0GHz with GB Ram and 1100Kb/s Up.

you sure you are doing stats on the server console ie "rcon stats" or stats on the console itself and not just stats from your client machine?

I am typing "stats" on the server console. I get errors when I type "rcon stats"

In the case you are having a low FPS, what is the fps_max set to in your server.cfg?

make sure it is 600 or higher to get maximum FPS.
