A couple of problems
#1
Rolleyes
Hi,

Im hosting two servers with 12 and 18 slots. I have these specs:

3,0ghz
1gb ram
windows home
10/10mbit connection
---
I use about:
0-10% CPU
300MB RAM
with about 5 persons gaming

1. I want to have a tickrate at 100, but it's not getting over 33-34 when I play. (I am also using some kind of fpsbooster-exe-file) I have -tickrate 100 in my launch-thingy, maxupdaterate 120, maxrate 30000, and maxcmrate 120.

2. When people are playing on my server they have moderate pings, atleast I think so. That's about 20-50 and sometimes a person has over 100 - but not very often. Anyway, sometimes there is some kind of "lag" that kind of takes everyone back like a second. I have monitored this with net_graph and it says loss: 30 whenever this happens (I think it happens at the same time for everyone on the server). - note: choke is still at 0!

3. Two servers. I used a guide for this - creating one server1.cfg & one server2.cfg, one mapcycleserver1.cfg & one mapcycleserver2.cfg, and so on. The problem is only the map cycle thing. - it seems to use the old one - mapcycle.txt. (which Ive kept)

I know its a lot, but it would really help me out. Also, If you'd like, you can contact me on steam: fredie89_dk

Thanks in advance.

Also, how many slots do you think I can host at tickrate 100 with these specs? 40?

did you set cl_cmdrate 100 and cl_updaterate 100 in your client?

I've now managed to get the tickrate up to 100 by simply restarting (apperently the fps booster needed that).

I still have the mapcycle problem, and the random "lag spikes". Does anyone know how to solve that?

loss means a connection problem, mostly not within your power to fix.
Try doing a traceroute to a website and see if you get loss doing that.

on the mapcycle:
do you have "mapcyclefile mapcycleserver1.txt" in server1.cfg
and mapcyclefile mapcycleserver2.txt" in server2.cfg?

OK, thanks for the mapcycle thing I will try that out tomorrow...

I just had 15 players on my servers and they were complaining about lag. I joined and now it wasnt just loss this time - also chokes! All pings were between 5-80. My CPU use were around 2-10% and RAM about 3xxMB. What could this be? Its not like its lagging all the time... just sometimes it comes (all on the server at the same time)..

How do I do a "traceroute"?

choke doesn't cause lag, it's just an indication what's happening. If the tickrate drops below like 20 the server will lag.

Try making a screenshot or post everything from the net_graph here.

a traceroute can be done in the windows command prompt or you can use a program like VisualRoute.

Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see, can you post a screenshot of the net_graph 3 when you are playing?

What model of the processor do you have? Celeron? Pentium? Athlon?

I have pentium! I will post a screenshot very soon. I am afraid its the network though.. Could it be a burned out router or something like that?
