Tick rate Problems...
#1
OK, I've had my own DoD server for a while and normally I get almost NO traffic in it *don't ask me why I keep it up still*. The problem I encounter is that I get about 5-8 people on at one time, look at the console to see what their saying and half the page is filled with them all yelling "LAAAAAAG" and I've been told this is because my tickrate is too high, My guess is its 100.

My question, is how can I change this without using the command line configuration? I know how to do the command line config but I still rather having the actual window I can look at with the tabs. So far, I'm running a dual core 2.4 ghz processor with 1 gig of ram. I have 2 Teamspeak servers running which are assigned to run on the first processor along with most of my other programs while the DoD server runs on both. I haven't been able to find the Server.cfg file, which leads me to another question. Where is it, and if its not there should I make it?

Please keep in mind I'm not very smart when it comes to servers, so if possible dumb it down a little.

Thank you all for reading this and I hope to see a response soon.

Well do a speed test or something lol.....
upload bandwidth is the resource being used most with servers.

800 kbps... I'm mostly running it for a few friends that want to get on it...

if you don't remember putting the -tickrate 100/66/33 in any command line then you are running at 33, most likely your rates are too high for your upload speed.

I didn't use the command prompt for this...

And again, back to my original question... how do I change it? I've done it before so I KNOW it can be done...

it can ONLY be changed via the command line.

you can change the sv_cmdrate and sv_updaterate all you want but the server will still run at 33 until you change it via a command line parameter.

I believe it could be changed through Mani admin plugin a while ago. I distinctly remember going into a file and changing it.

mani will read your server's tickrate and display it but you can't change it, check his forums:

http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=25

if you're talking about mani_tickrate, if you don't put anything in it reads the command line, if you put something in it will display whatever number you put in regardless of what the server tickrate actually is. so if you put in 100 there it will show 100 in the in game advert but you'll still be at 33 because you didn't use the startup parameter.
