Sad
Hey guys, im just recreting a DOD:S server and have downloaded the tool and install everything as per the instructions on this site, when i try to run SRCDS nothing happens, no error msg, no cmd window, nothing at all happens.

Im trying to run it on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server but have done so in the past without any hassle so dont understand why this should be any different!

Any help greatly appreciated guys!

What is your commandline to start the servers?

c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game dods +map dod_flash -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate

But even trying to run srcds.exe doesnt work at all. I get nothing.

try updating it with -verify_all

so something like:
Code:
HLDSUpdatetool.exe -command update -game dods -dir c:\srcds -verify_all

Please do not PM me for server related help

I think that i know what it is...

Add a level to the start-up script...

So something like this: c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game dod -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate +map YOUR_MAP_HERE

That line has +map twice, as my line already chooses a map dod_flash

but even without it should it at least try to open the window?

ok cool that seemed to work! but it says game is Day of Defeat, not say of defeat source. is that right?

I can understand it being just day of defeat as its the source DS and not just the HLDS.

Im not infront of my pc right this second so can only view the Console of the server. Will check its working ok when I get home.

but i notice there are a couple of errors that have come up:

couldn't exec skill1.cfg

Error: Material "sprites/bubble" : proxy "AnimatedTexture" not found!
Error: Material "particle/smokestack" : proxy "ParticleSphereProxy" not found!

couldn't exec dod_flash.cfg

I seem to remeber them from last time I set one up but cant remeber whether they are important...

Those errors are perfectly normal, it's valves bad programming.
couldn't exec dod_flash.cfg means there is no specific map config, if you don't want it you don't need it.

So basically, just ignore them.

Just like with Counter-Strike: Source, you type -cstrike in the commandline (that would imply CS1.6) but they didn't change it for the source engine, so you load the correct game (since the SRCDS does not support HLDS games).

type "log cvarlist cvarlist.txt" in the server console and it will dump everything to cvarlist.txt located in SRCDS\dod\
