hey guys....and gals,
i'm running a css ds..the command prompt one. and i seem to be getting some extreme lag problems, like anywhere from 600 to 1000ms. i'm a bit confused on what is causing it. i am using the http download option and have sv_allowdownload set to 0 so i know the maps aren't being downloaded off of my server. i am using broadband...i tested it and it was at like 750-780 upload. my server configuration is:
oh yeah and i only allow 12 people to run at once..
celeron 2.6
512 mb mem
64 mb nvidia graphics card
i have the srcds.exe set to above average priority
my server.cfg settings are
sv_minupdaterate 13
sv_maxupdaterate 13
sv_minrate 3500
sv_maxrate 7500
sv_unlag 1 ? have no idea what this does
fps_max 150
oh yes and i use mani admin plugins..and i don't play on the server i have a seperate computer to play on. could anyone give me some advice as to what i could be doing wrong?
thanks in advance

*sees celeron*
celeron is the most BAD processor you can have in your computer... its as slow as a turtle in quicksand....
thats probably causing lag it just isnt fast enough (my P3 866MHz is 2x faster than a celeron 2,6 GHz)
so like i cant really give any suggestions, get a new computer if you really want to host a game

Celerons today aren't what they used to be. They are still the 'lower class' of CPU's but the new Celeron D CPU's (mind the D!) are far from bad performing (everything is relative though ). I don't know if that is a Celeron D, but since it is a 2.6Ghz model (= pretty recent) it could be one.
Short said: there are better CPU's to run a Source DS with, but that Celeron would even be overkill for running a single home Source DS.
My apologies for the off-topic.
May the Source be with you...

i almost got the newest celeron here and it practically sucks... i dunno, maybe i got a bad luck crap made CPU or not but i've had more celerons cause they were cheap.. until i got pentium, celeron is nothing compared to the pentiums so, i dont know if you ever really compared them but i've compared them like all my life. I got both pentiums and celerons here at my house.
but neways i would never host on a celeron (even the C&C Renegade Dedicated Server didnt run smooth on a celeron 2,6 GHz)
but hey i dont know how to fix like your lag problem sorry

Just to start off sv_unlag uses DoD's netcode which is farbetter than cstrikes netcode.
You may want to shut off any unwanted processes.
also, is the server lagging when its full? are you behind a router and connecting to your WAN IP instead of your private LAN IP?

Seriously? I'm going to be an ass here, open your damn eyes, look at goofy's signature.
Also I would like to say that the newest Celeron D's (near the 351's) are failed P4's with HT. How do i know? if you run a celeron D in linux, do cat /proc/cpuinfo, in the flags you'll notice the flag 'ht' which is for hyperthreading. I think the cache got cut in half as well.

*I* see a post that starts off with
RE: Cant get on server from internet
Are you sure you have all the needed ports open, and forwarded to the server? I have these ports forwarded, which works fine:
then listing the ports.

I host my servers in datacenters, so I don't forward ports.
