People Can't Join My CSS Dedicated Server
#1
Well i have recently got a source dedicated server and i am in the process of troubleshooting. The problem is when people try to join it it says "server not responding". So i opened all the necessary ports on my router management and windows firewall. I am using my external ip for the server. I am behind a router. It is a Seimens Speedstream 6520. I'm on wireless internet with a Trendnet 108Mbps 802.11g Wireless PCI adapter. My command line looks like this "C:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map zm_lila_panic -maxplayers 10 -autoupdate

Thanks

Wireless is part of your problem.
Did you set your server to have a static internal IP address?
So you don't need to change port forwarding option?

The hard way is through the router.
The easy way is within your operating system to set a HIGH static IP address that is unlikely to be assigned to others

"static IP"

Well i recently got it to work using another computer that is not on wireless but this has created another problem. Since i am behind a router and have a private dynamic ip anyone who wants to join has to console connect to the external ip which always changes. If they try to join via steam chat or the master server list it doesnt show up and says not responding on steam chat. Also i am on DSL. Is there a way to make it show up on the master server list and be people who want to join join right from steam chat?

Thanks.

Private dynamic Ip you can set to static
External dyamic IP you can't do anything about unless in some cases your ISP lets you or makes you pay for it.

Always make your internal/private IP static.
If you do the port forwarding correct it will show up on the list.

You can use a DNS same that dynamically links to your dynamic external IP.
Something like no-ip can work.
