How many ppl can i host?

hi, i have a pentium 2 500mhz pc with 64 megs of ram, windows 98SE, with a cdrom drive and a floppy drive, i have a cable modem connection too, how may people can i host on my server?

8 or 10 give or take.
put more pointed toward 8.
MAYBE your ram is a bit low so.

Lol, Maybe I am a little lacking in the ram department. someone just gave me this extra computer and i figured i'd try to make a server! oh well lol

you might want to check your connection speed before hosting like 8 or 10 immediatly

cable is known for somewhat slower upload speeds

IIRC windows dedicated server actually has a better netcode than linux, why, i have no clue.

What would be a good upload/download speed?

256 kbps upload is good for 8 players, 512 is good for 16,

your download is always higher than upload so dont worry about yer download

well after running about 10 seperate upstream tests I have determined that my upload is about 350, so that would be like 14 or 12 ppl right?

I would say about ~10 MAYBE 12
