Having some major lag problems...

My servers working now, well as well as it ever will , but I'm still having some problems. Unfortuantly, the lag for people joining is hitting over 500! Something that really should be avoided... Any ideas?

Also, I was wondering how you can change the map through the console? Is there any commands?

With 500 do you mean ping/latency?
If yes, then your connection can't handle that many players.
