NEED HELP !!! !! Unable To Allocate **** Port
#1
Hey guys. Been using srcds for awhile now. Only with my new vista computer I have had this problem.

I start up srcds TF2 Server with
Quote:srcds.exe -console -game tf -port 27015 +map ctf_2fort -maxplayers 8 -autoupdate

Everyone else can join. No problem. Except me. I am under a router.I use my internal ip address
Quote:192.168.*.*
or external ip address
Quote:222.164.***.***
with port 27015. I get the error WHEN I TRY TO JOIN THE SERVER.

"Unable to allocate server IP port"

This causes team fortress 2 to crash.

I tried port 27014, 27013,27016,27020/
Instead I get the error

"Unable to allocate hltv port"

Note that I do not use any -ip in my startup line. I use BOTH MY EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL ip to JOIN as well as the STARTUP. I used ports 27010 to 27020. Nothing works. Team Fortress 2 will crash if i try to join. Others can join no problem.

Any help asap will be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh. Double checking. My server cfg. has NOTHING to do with sourcetv in it. and with tv_enable "0" they still give me such errors.

Please do not PM me for server related help

Yea i am. But i could before. I usually could host AND play at the same time. >.<

EDIT: I mean last time on my old computer (different internal and external ip but same router), i could host the server AND play at the same time. w/o any server ip port errors. Now i have them. Is it because of windows Vista? I used windows XP when it could work.

And also the only reason i got srcds is becuz my fren on steam says he can host and play with his clan m8 at the same time... so ...

You never were supposed to be able to host and play on the same computer anyway because it's bad quality.

Hook up that old computer to your router and host a server from that one, play on your own.

No its possible. On my friends computer. I hosted up to 5 people (including me) and no lag. Anymore than 5 it lags. Its possible.
But the old computer is gone now.

My dad says that because im using the noob Windows Vista HOME EDITION --> There are limited features. So i cannot control the network to allocate a different ip for the server. Is that true?

Ok. Guys UPDATE I STILL NEED HELP.

I upgraded from Vista Home Edition
to
Vista Business.

Like I said before, NOW I CAN CONNECT TO AND PLAY ON MY OWN SERVER via internal ip address. But now my friends cannot even SEE my server via external OR internal ip. So in a way only people within my router or LAN can see and join my server. I give them the right ports (27015). I fowarded ports 27010 to 27020. I gave them both external and internal ips but they cannot even SEE the server.

Help?!

Have you tried disabling UPnP in your router settings?

Same problem. Any suggestion? I host a dedic.server for a long time. It was on Windows XP and i played on it with my friends without lags and bugs. I dont care about "You never were supposed to be able to host and play on the same computer anyway because it's bad quality." I have played, and there was NO problem at all. But now, on Vista Ultimate it is a huge problem. I have Error "Couldn't allocate any IP port" when i try to connect to my server. I'm behind router, but it doesn't matter. On XP all was working, on Vista not. Need help to solve this problem.

Partialy solved my problem, thanx to virtualization.
Got an virtual machine on VMWare server and moved SRCDS on it. I got another LAN IP adress that i port-forwarded on router and now i can join to my server from my LAN, and people can join from internet.
But this is not solution, this are crutches. ))
