fps_max not actually increasing FPS
#1
Hi, I am running a win2k3 server with dual xeons on 2 GB o ram.

I have 1 server per core, each running at 512 FPS (which is what I think is the most for a windows server)

When I type stats in console, it usually says around 256 FPS, if I hit stats very fast in HLSW, i will get an occasional response that says its running at 511 FPS

I am running the fpsboost.exe or whatever as a service on the box.. so I hope this is what I need.

This is what the HLSW log looks like,
23:29:47 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 511.20 0
23:29:47 stats
23:29:47 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 511.10 0
23:29:48 stats
23:29:48 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 254.19 0
23:29:48 stats
23:29:48 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 239.95 0
23:29:48 stats
23:29:48 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 271.23 0
23:29:49 stats
23:29:49 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 256.85 0
23:29:49 stats
23:29:49 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 508.97 0
23:29:49 stats
23:29:49 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
0.00 0.00 0.00 21 0 290.07 0

This private server hops back and forth, while my public server(usually full) stays around 250-260 FPS

Is there some other exe that I should run as a service to enable proper FPS boosting? what other things can i run to "boost" these servers?

Thank you so much!! i am awaiting your responses!

The FPS fluctuates depending on CPU usage at any time (especially at round starts on high-utilization servers) - you will notice this if you run "rcon stats" at round starts compared to in the middle of a round. High CPU usage will effect both servers' FPS values, no matter if one is empty or not.

The higher the CPU usage, the lower the FPS will be.

Thats why some people opt to keep the FPS low to begin with. I know we have our fps_max set at under 200 I think...

If you want to reach 512 fps set fps_max 600.

Yeah but then the FPS will jump all over and that makes it unstable and buggy :/
