yes! thnx for the offer now...

I'm trying to run a tf2 server (just a small private server for myself and 1 other friend), i downloaded and installed HldsUpdateTool.exe, downloaded everything, made the bat file : "c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf +ip 192.168.1.101 -port 27015 -autoupdate +maxplayers 6 +map duel_duel2"

I've tried many variations, at first my problem was the "cannot find server ports" then i added my ip and it just times out every time. I opened up the correct ports ( i think) and got frustrated so i changed my computers internal ip (to the .101) now the dedicated server wont connect to the master servers but it says it launched the game ok (complete with fps, 0/6 players etc)

halp!

Okay so I'm helping a friend to run a Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Server. He has a belkin pre-n router (version 1002) Model F5D8230-4 router and everything is perfectly set up. The ports have been forwarded, people can join, everything is perfect. EXCEPT that the port that I see keeps changing. He joins it from lan on an internal ip and the proper port, 27016. However, others join using his External IP address, and the port is changing like yesterday it was 10020 and a couple days ago it was 15573. How can I fix this? (The scrds.exe is running by console not VGUI and neither of those ports have been forwarded).

yeah sorry i didnt mention that. . the target has -ip 192.168.2.136 -port 27016 and the regular stuff
by the way his IP is changing -- its usually close to his external ip but it changes from like 72.3.65.206 to 72.3.65.213

That means he has a dynamic IP, also the router isn't configured correctly, it shows in the changing ports.

So i should set-up a static ip for him and then make his forwarded ports on the private static ip?
Then it will work?

EDIT** I followed a guide on portforward.com for a steam server and forwarded the correct ports, exactly to his router.

People can join, but if he restarts after like 3 hours of uptime it changes. I have gotten him a static ip address and changed the command line for the address and the ports have been forwarded to it. Its still on a really wierd port though, the port is at 10935, before it was 10011, and before that it was 10002. It uses the port 27016 on TCP and UDP (so he can play on it aswell). and then 27020 UDP was forwarded aswell. Thats the only one. It was forwarded by going under "Virtual Servers".

The site did say a list of options should come up but nothing happened. . it just updated the router.

I mean a dynamic external IP address, you can't make it static unless you ask your ISP real nicely or you'll have to pay to your ISP.

Oh. . . Hah thats funny. Is it regular for an ISP to give a Dynamic IP Address, because I know mine doesn't change.
