Well.. ive done this a million times, installing SRCDS.. never had a problem installing till now,..

Running on Windows XP,

I download the hldsupdatetool and run it, and install it to the default dir, from there i run it and put in the exact line;

HldsUpdateTool.exe -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir S:\SRCDS

The problem..

cannot open blob archive file: cmultifieldblob(mem-mapped file): file does not exist and failed to create new file

The fix?.. none? this is annoying..,
If i have to ill just go get the default gui srcds.. but id prefer to use this one.. any help would be awesome., thanks.

I had this before with someone. The program can't make the folder it's self. Make the folder (SRCDS on your S drive), then run it Smile

i did have it Sad..

i also, tried it without the dir, tried a diff drive, tried it with stuff in dir, with stuff out of dir.., updated a few times in a row.. also ran many times.. same error..

this can work as ive installed this on xp before.. and i remember this process so clearly.. i dont understand whats wrong..

could it be a setting in winxp somewhere? perhaps a certain amount of rights are not given to the program.. or something..,

im running xp pro sp2, ive never installed on xp pro sp2, but i have on xp home sp2..

Umm i never had this problem before but i will give this a shot Smile. Try installing a different game or something. See if the CSS files wont run. Dunno why they wouldnt work though :\. Try downloading hldsupdatetool again?

Be sure the folder is there with the exact same syntax as written in the -dir command, if it's not there it will throw that error. If it is there wont be a problem.
