(This post was last modified: 11-30-2007, 07:41 AM by mike21091.)
I have a HP Pavilion ze2315us Laptop with a 1.8Ghz AMD Mobile Sempron, 1GB DDR266 Memory and 60GB 4200RPM Hard Drive.
Also my internet connection is through Verizon. The speed is advertised as 20Mbps Down/ 5Mbps Up and I'm getting around 13Mbps Down / 1.6Mbps Up according to speedtest.net (I also live in Florida).
What I want to know is what would be the most I could squeeze out of this machine for a Garry's Mod server.
Thanks.
(Edit: The OS is Windows XP Pro SP2)

Maybe, just maybe, you could get 20-30 slots 33 tick. You would lag horribly during map changes because of your hard drive btw.

Garry's Mod, maybe 6...
That sempron really cuts down on the player count

Thanks for the info.
I also have a motherboard and AMD Athlon 1600 CPU, would that be any better than the Sempron?

Yes that would be better for sure!
Sempron is like the Celeron provided by intel

Wow I really need to work on my estimations, sorry about telling you the wrong set of data Mike.
Drocona, why does sempron and celeron not do well with SRCDS?

Because celeron and sempron are bad for everything, they are budget processors.
Normally they run low FSB, hardly any cache memory on them, that's a big problem. You'll never even get near P4 2.8GHz performance with the newest celeron at this moment. Some rumors going around that crashed pentiums are turned into celerons

At the moment I have the following available to me for use as a server.
- 2.7Ghz Intel Celeron
- 1.7Ghz Intel Celeron
- 1.2Ghz AMD Athlon (Not so sure it works)
- 1.8Ghz AMD Mobile Sempron
I would like to know what would be the best and then the second best.
Thank you for your time.

If the Athlon works, I would use that I guess, then the 2.7 Celeron.

Well since i just got a new desktop, my old desktop is going to be my server and here are the specs.
2.2GHz AMD Athlon 64
1024MB DDR 266 SDRAM
80GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
It also has a new (less that 1 month old) power supply.
What would be the max players i could run on here (Garry's Mod)?
Also I'd like to know of any suggestions and/or tweaks.
Thank you again, mike21091.

40ish normal slots but Im not sure about how many Garry's Mod slots. At least 15-20 though.

Thanks Spartanfrog.
Currnetly I'm planning to run 12 slots so at least I know it can handle that.
