Very very weird voice problems
#1
Hey all sorry to keep posting all these questions=p.

Anyway this is probably the weirdest post by me.

I run a TF2 server on a spare computer in my home. Its 24 slots 66 tick.

To get straight to it i have sv_voiceenable 1 and sv_alltalk 1 setup in the server.cfg. It seems that before i restarted the server from a memory issue people could talk to eachother and what not and hear everyone fine. Now it seems that some people can hear some people while others wont hear anything. Or no one hears anyone at all, but there is still regular sound. Steps i took so far. I tried to enable sv_alltalk and voiceenable again thru the console, no luck. I also took out all the mods i had (metamod, sourcemod, mani admin) still no luck.

type sv_voicecodec in the server console

it says "sv_voicecodec"="vaudio_speex" -specifies which voice codec DLL to use in a game. Set to the name of the DLL without the extension.

Thx for the reply =) i learned a new command =p, but no idea what it means.. yet

Well it sets the "quality" of the codec used, speech is the newest, vaudio_miles is the older one, try setting that one and see if the sound is ok then. If it's not change back to speex cause it's better in my opinion.

yea sometimes to change things you have to restart the whole server. Most the time just changing the map will do the trick, but not always.

I did not actually find a fix for this, inturn i reinstalled windows and the problem has gone away. But now the server crashes on with no one in it on some custom maps =/. One thing after another haha.

The custom maps dont crash with people on them, only when they are empty.

Hi everyone, I'm new so bear with me.

I'm trying to set voice up on my own server and I'm having difficulties.

I have set voiceenabale to 1 and alltalk to 1, as well as changing the voice codec to the older version as suggested all to no avail.

No-one can hear anyone on the server, and then you talk, it doesn't even regiester that you are speaking.

Can anyone help me Sad

Haha this won't be any help but my opinion is , it's better if you could hear no one talked through the mic because I would always disable it , the reason being is , there is too many kids out there using the mic unnecessarily . It frustrates me when I hear them talk crap and stuff . Especially when they talk in another language , not a international language like English . Many immature people would use the mic for stupid reasons . No offence to anyone ~ Haha
