Hey guys.

What would run a server like this on a t1 connection what sort of specs would be needed for a 10player server with sourcetv for a competitive css team.

What do you guys recommend to ensure perfect hit rego?

Cheers in advanced for the help Big Grin

Well just to let you know, 1000 fps is impossible on modern cpu's unless you edit something in the bios.

Technically it would be Hz, not FPS on a CPU Toungue

Any value can be set easily (in terms of linux - windows also has little apps coded by people to change kernel timers), but for gameservers, anything over 1000Hz is usually impractical (however not at all detremental to performance).

A half decent P4 (maybe even PIII) with 512mb of RAM would be enough to run a decent match server.

What do you mean? Its not possible for modern CPU's to run 1000 fps due to a safe guard.

i think he's talking about serverside fps not client

Code:
stats
CPU   In    Out   Uptime  Users   FPS    Players
1.50  0.00  0.00       0     0  971.82       0
stats
CPU   In    Out   Uptime  Users   FPS    Players
1.50  0.00  0.00       0     0  970.87       0

1.50  0.00  0.00       0     0  971.82       0

Yes, server side fps. Anyway what would you recommend for a 11slot 100tick server?

Your comment was relating to CPUs, not ingame server FPS values - hence the Hz.

And not entirely true, linux can easily do higher than one thousand (1ms) - into the tens of thousands Hz with real-time kernels @ 4-6 µs.

Don't know the story for windows, just that i know it can be done. Most modern CPU built for servers (Xeon's for instance), i know can do more than 1000Hz (again, on linux).

I already answered your question in my first reply.

Here's what I recommend:

100 tick, 512 FPS(maximum of 700 FPS)

And yes a P4 will do easily and a P3 1GHZ and above will hold too.

What would be the best in terms of ram?

I think i can get a p4 2.0Ghz but im not sure about how much ram I should include in this system. Smile

512 MB Ram will do the job perfectly fine, however you could get 1gig so you can run other stuff too and maybe upgrade.
