Is there a explanation somewhere what was edited in the engine.dll?

No infact it was even.. enco...

Why do you think no one released it up until now? And why those who had it only gave it away under promises that it would not be shared and even sold them?

Well I didn't want to buy it so I made it myself... Toungue

I for one, do not want Valve figuring out how it was done, of course I am 99% certain they know how but that 1% will do for now. Just incase.

Try it yourself, run a virus scanner, it's nothing bad. (If you think it might be)

It acts exactly like the original file cept for one minor difference.

(The initial change was minimal.)

It does seem odd that the original dll is about 3 MB while the patched one is only 1.4.

I noticed that too, maybe they took out a lot of code and replaced it with a single function that returns true. Someone who has a clue want to fill us in?

The file is encoded so that it would be harder to figure out what was done.

I am sure that Valve knows their code but this helps cut down on the hate mail that I receive (less recently). Telling them this make them SHUT UP instantly Smile.

And I give up working on the Linux version for now. I got it to the point where it stops saying "Server is out of date" but it still does not appear in the master list...
