Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
#31
Did you try and add the "sv_lan 0" to the cfg file.

Are you sure its executing the cfg file?

Yes, I do have the "sv_lan 0" I used your copy of the .cfg almost word for word. I even used someone else's file.
However, I do not know for sure that it is executing the file. How do I go about checking?

If you are running this from your home PC, you will see it under your LAN tab.. since its running on your local network. However, as long as you have sv_lan 0, other players should be able to see and connect to it fine (assuming you have the correct ports open).

I know what my problem is: It's not executing the .cfg file. Anyone know how to fix that?
And thanks for all the help.

Just to rule out the obvious....you did save the file as server.cfg right?
Have you verified the name of the file? You are absolutely sure its called server.cfg and not server.cfg.txt
Do you have windows setup, so you can view file extensions?
I know these are stupid questions, but sometime the answer is pretty simple.

Hey, found this tutorial very helpful, but for some reason the server gets hosted on an incorrect port. In my case the server adress looks like this 24.45.140.48:62809. This is indeed my ip adress, but from what i understand the port should be 27015, just like in the exec. command. Have ports forwarded 27000-27050 in my dlink rounter. Any suggestions?
PS: someone else posted his screenshots with problem with 24 people, and his console looked like it was in steam interface? How can i run this in steam interface instead of using a command prompt? Thanx in advance.

Try adding -port 27015 to the command line.

27015 is in the command line. With my router unplugged it seems to be working properly. Any reason why the port is incorrect when using the router?

Make sure your router have port forwarding set up correctly.
Update it's firmware.
Give your server is STATIC local IP so that the posts are ALWAYS forwarded to your computer.

Just some ideas Smile

BECK:
PLEASE remove these 2 line from your listed config file:
Code:
mp_clan_ready_signal "go" //Text that team leader from each team must speak for the match to begin
mp_clan_readyrestart 1 //If non-zero, game will restart once someone from each team
People keep having problems with it because they don't read their config files before running the server.

I have setup and successfuly run the server with players playing with it. However I received complaint that it took 5 minutes to setup the game for 2nd round in gravel pit map. Is there any configuration I need to set to make this setup time much faster?

TIA

Thought I'd add my two cents, and if the OP wants to add this to the first post, please do...

For fast respawn with no mods/plugins I have a tutorial here http://www.gtfogaming.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2637

Since I haven't seen the OP for a while I've made the changes:
Code:
Added // in front of the mp_clan_ready_signal and mp_clan_readyrestart
Added GTFO Gaming fast respawn tutorial to the Extra's

Okay... Might not be the place to ask, but since it's not included in the tutorial I am going to.... How do I setup an admin list?

Thanks

Can I do this on the same com I have TF2 on? Or does it have to be a com that doesn't have TF2?
